Furniture Design Ideas to Spruce Up Your Bedroom

The bedroom is one of the most important areas in a house, and it’s important to keep it looking fresh and comfortable. In this article, we talk about furniture design ideas that can level up your bedroom. Read on!

Use New, Subtle Colors

Bedrooms are personal spaces meant to be soothing and comforting. The best colors to achieve that vibe are neutral colors like creams and whites on your furniture pieces. Light color palettes like lavender and light blue are also great.

This doesn’t mean you can’t use bold colors. You can experiment with ways to add interesting pops of colors to your bedroom if you want. You can do this through your throw pillows, duvet covers, bedspread, or comforter. An interesting ceiling or accent wall can also do the trick.

Build Custom Storages

Wood furniture pieces are great additions to a bedroom, especially if they fit your space and style.

What’s better is that you can custom wooden furniture to achieve a specific design or look you want for your bedroom — custom storage are perfect for this because they not only serve as a nice addition to spruce up your bedroom; they also provide much-needed space for your things.

Use Corner Beds for Small Spaces

Most bedroom designs have the bed as the focal point centered on the wall. However, this can be difficult for homes with limited spaces.

To maximize your space, tuck the bed up against a corner or a wall. This creates a snug and cozy sleeping area.

Buy Mirrors

Mirrors are the one furniture piece that can make a small room look bigger and make a large room look even larger. Buy one and position it to reflect the light coming from a window — this is great for increasing the amount of natural light that enters your room.

If you want to incorporate a full-body or bigger mirror, lean it up against a wall. You can secure it with a wall tacky to prevent it from falling down.

Invest in Light Fixtures

Your options for light fixtures range from eye-catching chandeliers to stylish wall and floor lamps. Whichever you choose, light fixtures are great for giving your space more depth and character.

There are different types of lighting, and a great rule of thumb is to always layer them. Don’t rely on a single overhead light or lamp. Include several light sources that you can toggle on and off to maximize their functionality. Apart from chandeliers, you can take advantage of floor lamps, bedside lamps, reading lights, pendant lights, dimmer, and sconces.

Try Bold Wallpapers

While technically not a piece of furniture, a bold wallpaper pattern attached to a focal wall can spruce up your bedroom instantaneously. While many homeowners think wallpapers make rooms look small and cluttered, using the right style and technique does the opposite.

Add a bold wallpaper pattern to your focal wall such as the headboard wall. Choose a large-scale pattern instead of small, busy ones. To create a cohesive look, coordinate your bedding with your wallpaper.

Add Plants

Again, not exactly a furniture piece, but a small bit of green life can spruce up your bedroom big time!

Indoor plants make your room look a lot nicer and aesthetically pleasing. In fact, plants make any space feel more alive, not to mention they actually help clean the air in your space. Decorative pots are also great.

Follow Your Style

When doing all of the suggestions above, be sure to follow your personal style. Don’t get caught up in various decorating tips and trends you see online — you may end up with a bedroom that looks good but doesn’t feel right to you.

Your bedroom should be you — it should fit your level of comfort and be tailored to your needs. Always ask yourself what appeals to you. Make room for specific things you love and incorporate them into your design ideas.
