You can customize the style, size and stain and texture of the your solid wood dining table. We also offer small custom options such as rounded the edges of the tables (if you have small children).
It generally takes 12-14 weeks to make the dining table sets. The lead time has gone down lately, as our supplier has added capacity. In some cases, the dining tables have been as ready as soon as 8 weeks. When the table is ready, we can store the table for 1 week, but if we need to keep them longer than 1 week, we generally charge $100 a week for storage. One of the ways we keep our costs down, and pass the savings on to you, is that we don’t pay for a large storage space.
We offer the ability to customize the style, size, and texture of your solid wood dining table and dining table set, so you get the perfect table for your space. Yes, all our dining and kitchen tables are solid wood. Our suppliers are known for offering some of the best quality solid wood dining tables in Canada. They hand-select kiln-dried maple, red oak and cherry, from local lumber mills.
Our solid wood dining tables are made by the Mennonites near Kitchener Waterloo. If you have ever had a chance to go out that way, it’s a beautiful area. The Mennonites are hard working and honest people who have perfected the craft of furniture building. In the past you may have envisioned out-dated styles with Mennonite furniture, but this has changed. The Mennonite suppliers we work with offer both classic and modern styles.
Yes, we have a showroom on Markham Main Street, where we have the most popular solid wood dining tables, including round dining tables on display. We showcase a variety of textures and stains. We try to showcase as many of the styles from our suppliers as possible. If we don’t have them in dining furniture, we should have them in bedroom and office furniture that will give you a good idea if you do order the style in dining furniture.
We largest table we have made is 16 feet long. This triple foot pedestal table will not be made in one long piece, but generally a bunch of sections that are put together. You can choose how those tables go together. You can see examples of these large tables we have made here. https://anne-quinn.com/product/16-foot-triple-pedestal-table-96-x-54-with-four-24-extensions/
Our dining furniture is more designed for the indoors. It won’t stand up to the elements.
The advantages of pedestal tables include you get the nice style and shape of the pedestal. Also, it’s a space saver as the chairs can tuck in on the corners of the table. Depending on the pedestal style the chairs will fit in better than others. You’ll have to decide if the base style is more important to you or is it more important that the chairs tuck in fully.
We sell more pedestal tables than 4 legged tables, but for tight spaces, 4 legged tables work well. It really comes down to personal preference. We offer both. https://anne-quinn.com/product/contempo-four-leg-table/
Yes, we offer extension tables. You have the option of an end extension or center extension. Pro with the end extension is that you don’t have a line running down the middle of the table. Con with the end extension is that you will have to store the leaf separately. Also, it’s good to note with the end extensions that the grain goes the opposite way than the main table. With center extension the advantage is that you can store up to two 12” leaves in the table. Con is that you have a line running down the middle of the table. Our extension tables with center extensions feature a very good quality glide mechanism. See https://anne-quinn.com/product/dining-table-extension-examples/
We offer a variety of stains, from very dark to a very light stain. The good thing is that we have a showroom, so you can see the stains in person. It’s very difficult to pick a stain from picture on a website. If you have a piece of flooring, we recommend to bring it in, so you can see how your table stain will work with your flooring.
We offer from a rustic barnboard look to a brush more modern look. You can apply those textures to the maple wood. For the cherry and oak, the only option is a smooth finish.
We offer maple, wormy maple, red oak and cherry woods.
Smooth maple and wormy maple are one of the most popular wood choices from our customers. Maple is considered a hard wood and is very durable. Maple features fine textured and clean grained lines. If you choose a lighter stain, you can expect quite a bit of variety between the different planks. That shows the beauty of the real wood. If you want a more consistent look, you are better off with a darker stain. Wormy maple is maple which at one time had the Ambrosia Beetle in leaving it with small natural holes. You’ll pay a bit less for wormy maple, and many actually quite like the character added by these natural holes. Expect to see a bit more variety in the planks of wood with wormy maple. Again, these unique characteristics lead to the natural beauty and art of this type of wood.
Cherry is considered as one of the finest woods for making furniture. It is a classic wood for making quality furniture. Of course, you have be okay with the rich red undertone of the cherry wood. One of the things to be aware of cherry is that it can have pitting, which is small holes. The pitting is also known as “Mineral Deposits” and is the result of tiny amounts of sap that were stored in the tree as it grew.
Red oak tables
Solid red Oak has been used for generations to produce quality handcrafted furniture. Oak has a coarser grain with lots of variety. If you don’t want the red to show with oak, it’s best to pick a darker stain. If you do pick a lighter stain, some of the planks can show up having a red undertone. Something you should be aware when picking the stain with oak furniture.
Smooth and Wormy Maple used to be less expensive than oak or cherry. However, the prices are now more on par. So, the wood you chose is more a personal preference decision rather than based on price.
To choose the right table you need to first think of your needs. Do you have an extended family, then having a smaller table with the ability to extend is a good option. Do you have small children then adding a texture is a good idea, so you won’t have to worry every time they touch the table. Pedestal tables work well. Not only do they look good, but they are practical for allowing more chairs to fit around the table. You’ll have to make a decision on the shape of the table. Rectangular tables work for most places, but if you have a smaller space, round or oval tables are also a good option.
Pedestal tables continue to be trending right now. The grey stains and textures are also popular options.
The great thing with Anne Quinn, not only can you customize the stain and texture but you can customize the perfect sized table for your space. Best to lay down tape or newspaper so that you know exactly how the table will fit within your room. Leave room for the chairs to tuck in and out.
For a dining area, we recommend that you select from our many pedestal options. Once you have the pedestal selected, you will have to decide on the wood type, and texture and stain.
We would recommend a table with a texture for an everyday table like what goes in your kitchen. That way you don’t need to worry every time it gets used.
Yes, we do offer chairs. Although chairs can add up, they are worth it. Our chairs are solid wood fully assembled chairs with mortise and tenon joinery and stretchers between the legs for added strength and double screws or European finger joint grooves for thick and strong corner braces. The chairs also feature 2″ thick crowned foam. Your new chairs will stand the test of time, because they are built properly. Expect a solid, stylish and comfortable chair from Anne Quinn. We have many of the chairs on display, so you can try them out before you purchase them. Because they are custom built, you can select the stain and fabric for your chair. These chairs are built just for you.
Yes, many of the collections offer the same style sideboard or buffet to match your table. The sideboards are not only stylish but built with a high level of quality. Also, you can customize the size of the sideboard to fit your space perfectly. For example, if the space between your table and sideboard is a bit tight, you can make the sideboard a bit narrower, so that chairs fit in properly. You can choose from different configurations such as all wood doors, or glass doors, or combinations of wood and glass doors. The sideboards come with adjustable wood or glass shelves, so you can place them where you want. We also offer buffets if you need a bit more storage space. You can add lighting to the buffet as well.
Yes, we do offer round tables. With the round tables, you can pick from the different options on the website. Round tables work great in smaller spaces, such as kitchens. You can add a texture to these round tables. Extensions are also an option for round tables.
The largest round table we recommend is 60”. If you go beyond that the table can become tippy. If you pick a pedestal with a larger base it adds to the stability.
Round tables work well with smaller spaces. Generally, we sell more of them for kitchens. Because they are round, they are a great option with small children who can bump their heads. With a round table and if you are using it in a kitchen it is a good idea to add a texture.
We charge $180 for dining and $220 for bedroom, and $240 for condo delivery in the GTA. If you are outside of the GTA please reach out to us for a custom quote. With our delivery fees we just try to cover our expenses of picking the furniture up from the suppliers and the cost to deliver it to you.
Yes, we do offer counter height tables. Please look at the various collections to see which styles offer counter height tables. Best to review the website to see the options.
Yes, we do offer benches. Look at the various collections to see which benches are offered.
Benches are great because you can squeeze in more guests, if needed. Also, it’s a nice look to have a variety of benches and chairs.
Generally, you would have the benches just slightly shorter than the table size.
Handstone offers a 10-year warranty with their products. Conastoga offers a 2-year warranty with their products.
You can buy a tabletop protector for your table. We used a protector for several years, when we had small children. You can also cover with glass. We did that for our kitchen table that was used daily. Always use place mats or coasters when putting down plates.
Just a damp cloth works well, or you can use a bit of murphy’s soap oil to clean. Don’t use products such as pledge as it just end up leaving a residue which attracts the dust and dirt on the tables.
We would recommend a coaster or placemat when using cups or glasses on the table, as it can leave a ring.
Our supplier recommends a product called “Trade Secrets scratch remover for dark wood”. I haven’t tried this product myself, but they claim others have gotten good results from it. Of course, it’s good to experiment first on an area that you can’t see to see how it turns out.
The heat from the cup or pot causes a moisture ring to be caught in the finish. I’ve had success using a damp cloth over an iron, and it helped to reduce/get rid of the moisture that was caught in the table finish.
We offer our best prices up front. Other stores that offer discounts tend to pad their prices to afford their own discounts, but we don’t play such pricing games. Solid-wood furniture should be considered an investment that will last for generations. If you can’t afford to buy all the pieces you’d like at once, we recommend doing so in stages.
The next step is to call the showroom to book your appointment. We look forward to seeing you in person.
